Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Acadex ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Acadex website and application (the "Service"). Acadex is an AI tool that helps educators create outcomes-based course syllabi, lectures, quizzes, and K-12 lesson plans. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
a. Account information from Google Sign-In
We use Google Sign-In to create and authenticate your account. When you sign in, Google shares a limited set of profile information with us based on the scopes we request:
- openid — a unique Google account identifier used to recognize your account.
- email — your email address, used as your account identity and for service communications.
- profile — your basic profile information (name and profile picture), used to personalize your account.
We request only these basic sign-in scopes. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Classroom, contacts, or any other Google service.
b. Content you create
We store the inputs you provide and the documents the Service generates for you, such as course titles, syllabi, lectures, quizzes, and lesson plans, so you can edit, revisit, and export them.
c. Usage and technical data
We collect basic technical information such as device and browser type, general location inferred from your IP address, and product usage events. This helps us operate, secure, and improve the Service.
2. How we use Google user data
We use the information received through Google Sign-In solely to:
- create, secure, and authenticate your Acadex account;
- associate the content you create with your account;
- send you essential service-related communications.
Acadex's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To generate, store, and export the documents you request, including processing your inputs through third-party AI model providers acting on our behalf (see Section 4).
- To respond to your requests and provide support.
- To detect, prevent, and address security or technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who process data on our behalf — for example, hosting, analytics, and the third-party AI model providers that generate content from your inputs. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
- For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Acadex, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in how your information is handled.
5. Data retention
We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
6. Data security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
- Revoke Google access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
- Access, correct, or delete your information, or request a copy of it, by contacting us using the details below.
- Delete your account, which removes your associated content as described in Section 5.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We honor these rights where they apply.
8. Children's and student privacy
The Service is intended for educators and other adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Educators are responsible for ensuring their use of the Service complies with applicable student-privacy laws (for example, COPPA and FERPA in the United States).
9. International data transfers
We may process and store your information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
